Lovely rustic home, short walk to the village experience in McClellanville. | House in McClellanville
2 Bedroom House in McClellanville
You have the whole house to yourselves. This is our home and we rent it when we travel. Tapawingo is an older, rustic two story cabin / cottage which we are continuously upgrade. Set on 3 acres of forest, gardens and a pond, the house is secluded and very private. Ideal for a romantic getaway, honeymoon or just to totally relax and disconnect. Great place to read from our personal library. Perfect for two people.
Downstairs is a French country kitchen set up for serious cooking, with fridge, stove, dishwasher and microwave, cozy living room, the bathroom with toilet, sink and double headed shower. A large screened in porch area with sofa and comfy chairs and outdoor dining table is most inviting. We live on well water that has a new water softener system and at the kitchen sink is a reverse osmosis drinking water filtered tap. In 2019 we had the craw space sealed and a new heating and air conditioning system installed. We preset the temperature thermostat to the season.
Upstairs are the two bedrooms with queen beds, one with small deck, a TV den and the second bathroom with sink and claw-footed iron bath tub. There is a staircase that is steep, so please use caution going up or down.
You can also dine outside on the three tear open decks surrounded by our forest. On the entrance deck on other side of the house is a charcoal BBQ.
This is a home in the countryside so there are times we have pollen falling, or mosquitoes and other bugs. Occasionally you will see a fox or a deer, hear the crickets or the frogs, see lizards feeding, a spider or a bug. We do our best to eliminate the nasty ones using natural deterants.
It was here that Neal Petersen and Billie Baldwin wrote the National Outdoor Book Award winner, Neal's autobiography "Journey of a Hope Merchant" and Neal's solo around the world racing yacht is on the property.
Ride the tandem that we have to the village 5 min away, or bring your bikes. Get locally caught, fresh shrimp at the seafood store on the dock. Dine in one of the local places to eat, go for hikes in the forest or kayak in the rivers and intercoastal water way. So much to do, just relax at Tapawingo and read our books.
Absolutely NO PETS and NO YOUNG CHILDREN. Please do not even ask, as the answer is NO. If these rules are broken we will withhold the entire deposit. Also, we request that you remove your shoes at the entry way and enjoy the house either bare feet, or bring slippers for only indoor use. We live by the Golden Rule and Karma, and willing to help in any way we can, but expect our guests to respect our home and behave accordingly.
We do not have WiFi at the house, so if you need to connect, there is WiFi at the library, and most cell services have coverage with wifi.
In today’s challenging world, we need your cooperation to help keep everyone traveling safe. While we will do everything to make your stay safe and comfortable, we need your help:
1) Please do not travel if you are unwell. Should you become unwell after your arrival, please let us know in order to assist you.
2) We kindly ask that just prior to departure from Tapawingo, please gather all your used dishes; cups, glasses, plates, silverware and place them in the dishwasher and run it. Place 1 dishwasher tablet into the soap holder inside the dishwasher door. Tablets are found under the kitchen sink.
3) Please empty garbage bins in the bathrooms and in the kitchen. We request that you bag everything and put it in the big garbage bin with the lid on tight, outside the house to the left of the entry steps.
Thank you, we appreciate your extra care to help keep everyone healthy and able to enjoy their stay.
